Sweet Grass (Anthoxanthum hirtum)

$5.00

Sweet Grass has a nice vanilla scent when dry. It is an attractive spring-flowering grass, used by Native Americans in basket making and for ceremonial purposes, keeping its scent for a long time. I could not find much specific faunal relationships for this plant but, as a member of the Poaceae family, it is likely a host plant for skippers. Make sure to choose your planting spot wisely because Sweet Grass can form colonies from long-creeping rhizomes, that can be difficult to eliminate once established.
